ping(string ip[, number timeout]) ⇒ boolean
Checks whether an IP address is reachable. The optional timeout is specified in milliseconds and defaults to 2000.

This was originally provided as the predefined ping function, first available in ZPE 1.7.4. The optional timeout was added in ZPE 1.10.6.
