Artificial intelligence

Two definitions:

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of a computer to do tasks that require human intelligience.
Artificial intelligence - or AI for short - is technology that enables a computer to think or act in a more 'human' way. It does this by taking in information and deciding its response based on what it learns or senses.

Machine learning (ML)

Machine learning is an application of artificial intelligence (AI) that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed.
Machine learning focuses on the development of computer programs that use large sets of data to train themselves.
Examples of machine learning include:
- Netflix recommendations
- YouTube next videos
- Spotify playlists
- Amazon Recommendations – “People who bought this also bought..”
- Facebook – Image Tagging and Group Recommendations

4 different Types of AI

	Visual Perception This is when computers can “see” and recognise what’s in an image or video. For example, AI can identify faces in photos or detect objects like cars or animals. It can be used in medical imaging to identify diseases
	Natural Language Processing This allows computers to understand and respond to human language. It’s used in voice assistants like Alexa or chatbots that can hold a conversation.
	Robotics Robotics combines AI with machines to let them move and act in the real world. Examples include self-driving cars, drones, and robots that help in hospitals.
	Machine Learning This is when computers learn from data and improve over time without being told exactly what to do. It’s used in spam filters, recommendation systems, and fraud detection.
