Testing

Testing is one of the key stages of website development.
Testing a website can be done in several ways:
- Functional testing
- Requirement testing

Functional Testing

Functional testing involves checking that the website functions correctly.
This means testing:
- Images and other multimedia load correctly
- Links load correctly
- Testing buttons work correctly and do what they were meant to do
- Testing search functionality on the website
- Form input testing to ensure that forms can be submitted and are validated correctly

Requirements Testing

Requirements testing involves going through the original requirements for the website to check that every requirement has been met.
If the original requirements had fifty different things that needed to be added and forty nine were added, the website is not fit for purpose.
If just one thing is missing, the website is never fit for purpose.

Media assets

Assets on a website are generally related to multimedia. When you are testing the website, test all of the different media on the webpage.
On the right is a list of the common media you'll find on a website that would normally be tested.

Image formats:
- JPG
- PNG
- GIF
- SVG
Video formats:
- MPG
- MP4
- AVI
- MOV
Audio formats:
- MP3
- WAV
- FLAC

Answer the following questions:

A website has three webpages even though it was agreed it would have four. Which type of testing would identify this as a problem?
A websites images aren't loading correctly. What type of testing would identify this as a problem?
